FYI, my children and I sometimes randomly yell “bOOOOk!” just like Bette Midler in Hocus Pocus.
Today’s blog is brought to you by my need to post a blog, my lack of desire to do so and some recent decisions about my bOOOOk!
Let’s dive right in:
1.) I am in about the same place in my editing/book-publishing journey as last time. It turns out I don’t do messy life very well, so it got put on hold. Also, I decided to write a short story to submit to an anthology, so there’s that. And it’s almost finished.
2.) I finally set a goal to publish my novel before 2023. In fact, my new publishing deadline is October 1.
Here is my new timeline:
- May/June—Finish reviewing this round of edits.
- July—Hire another proofreader.
- July—Begin recruiting advanced readers.
- July—Hire cover designer and book formatter.
- August—Send e-copies to Advanced Readers. Order proofs.
- September—Promote, send reminder emails, etc.
- October—Publish! Yeah, baby!
That’s it. I think I’ve been a bit hung up on how do I do advanced promoting and build an audience and all that jazz. But I read something that clarified things for me. Basically, it said, social media is not really going to do much for you. Instead, focus on Advanced Readers and reviews. So that’s where I am going to shift my focus.
If you think you might be interested in being an advanced reader and providing an honest review, watch for announcements in the coming months! Also, watch for book blog posts. I am hoping to share character profiles, maybe some snippets, concept art/visuals, etc. 🙂
