My book, “The Author and The Illustrator,” is just two days from going live! For the past several days, I’ve had a lot of weirdness rattling around inside my skull… thoughts and emotions ranging from excitement to frustration of waiting to fear of not selling any books. I try to remind myself this is all completely normal, or Mercury is just in retrograde (it actually is, until Oct. 2).
I just watched an interview with a director who is releasing an independent feature-length film on Sept. 30, about 7 hours before my book is released. He was asked if he was excited. He said, “No, it’s terrifying.” I found myself nodding in agreement. It is scary to put yourself out there. I completely share his sentiment.
Putting the jitters aside, I am also really excited. My anticipation level is up to my eyeballs. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to see some reviews and sales on my dashboard. The feedback I’ve gotten from advanced readers so far has been very positive.
So to sum it up, I’m scared, I’m tired of waiting, and I’m also excited!
